Artifacts

As you start a Season, you will be introduced to an artifact. Artifacts are seasonal tools that provide new perks that you can unlock over time!
In addition, an Artifact also enables an artificial power boost as you continue to earn XP through various activities.
The types of perks provided by an artifact vary by season.
Unlocking additional columns within the artifact allows you to obtain stronger perks that you can utilize for the entire season.
To acquire the artifact in a new season, complete the seasonal introductory mission.

Champions

Champions are special mini-boss combatants that have unique capabilities, often requiring specifically equipped mods in order to combat their abilities.
While they are primarily found in Nightfall Strikes and Legendary/Master Lost Sectors, they can also be found in Raids, Story Missions, and in Free Roam on the Moon, Europa, the Throne World and Neomuna!

Types of Champions

Barrier Champions
Overload Champions
Unstoppable Champions

Barrier Champions

Barrier Champions create an impenetrable dome shield that will begin health regeneration if not stunned immediately.
Types of Barrier Champions:
- Cabal: Colossus
- Fallen: Servitor
- Hive: Knight
- Vex: Hobgoblin

Anti-Champion Perks: Anti-Barrier

The Anti-Champion capability is automatically activated when the perk is unlocked.
Use this to pierce Barrier Champion Shields.
Anti-Barrier Weapons also pierce shields on Hobgoblins, Phalanxes and Hydras!

Anti-Champion Subclass Attributes

In Destiny 2: Lightfall, Barrier Champions can be countered with Solar, Void and Strand abilities in the following ways:
- When Volatile Rounds is active (Void)
- When Radiant is active (Solar)
- When Unravelling Rounds is active (Strand)
Some Seasonal Artifacts provide ability anti-champion perks.
- Using a fully charged ability of the correct ability type and element can immediately stun the specified champion type.

Overload Champions

Champions that have increased healing and ability regeneration.
Overload Champions will often spam their abilities!
Types of Overload Champions:
- Fallen: Captain
- Taken: Taken Hobgoblin
- Vex: Minotaur
- Scorn: Chieftain

Anti-Champion Perks: Overload Rounds

Continuously fire your weapon to proc the Overload function.
Overload weapons cause disruption, which decreases the damage output of other enemies.
Overload weapons also delay PvP ability regeneration when used against combatants.

Anti-Champion Subclass Attributes

In Destiny 2: Lightfall, Overload Champions can be countered with Arc, Stasis and Void abilities in the following ways:
- Using Jolt (Arc)
- Using Suppression (Void)
- Using Slowed Effects (Stasis)
Some Seasonal Artifacts provide ability anti-champion perks.
- Using a fully charged ability of the correct ability type and element can immediately stun the specified champion type.

Unstoppable Champions

Champions that have a large amount of health and will rage attack when being attacked.
Unstoppable Champions are immune to stagger and stun capabilities from weapons and abilities (with the exception of anti-champion mods)
Types of Unstoppable Champions:
- Cabal: Incendior
- Hive: Ogre
- Taken: Taken Phalanx
- Scorn: Abomination

Anti-Champion Perks: Unstoppable

Aim down-sights for a few seconds to create an unstoppable shot.
Unstoppable Weapons also stagger unshielded combatants when used with a slight damage increase to that unstoppable bullet.

Anti-Champion Subclass Attributes

Can be countered with Arc, Solar, Stasis and Strand in the following ways:
- Using a Blinding Effect (Arc)
- Using Stasis Freeze (Stasis)
- Triggering a Solar Ignition (Solar)
- Triggering Suspend (Strand)
Some Seasonal Artifacts provide ability anti-champion perks.
- Using a fully charged ability of the correct ability type and element can immediately stun the specified champion type.

Artifact Champion Perks for Current Season or Episode

There is a short cooldown when stunning Champions with anti-champion weapons/abilities. There will be a short animation on the tendril-like growths on their back that will light up white when they can be stunned again!
