Heir Apparent Quest & Catalyst

This year, Eva Levante offers newcomers and players who missed out last year a quest to earn the Heir Apparent Exotic Machine Gun while participating in Guardian Games! To obtain the quest, begin this year’s Introductory Quest for Guardian Games!

Wrathed In Laurels Exotic Quest:

  • Step 1: Earn 50 Laurels. The Strike Playlist works great!
  • Step 2: Defeat 100 Combatants with a Machine Gun in the Daily Focus Playlist!
    • You can check the Director to see what the Daily Focus is.

Once you have the Heir Apparent Exotic Machine Gun, you have the chance to obtain a Catalyst Quest. To increase your chance at obtaining the quest, deposit as many Gold or Platinum medals as you can. Fellow Guardians have noted that the drop rate for the quest has been pretty generous so far! Once you have the quest, there are 3 objectives to complete.

Competitive Catalyst Exotic Quest:

  • Step 1: Earn 50 points by obtaining medals. Higher tier medals are worth more points.
  • Step 2: Complete 3 Contender Cards of your choice.
  • Step 3: Collect 90 Competitive Spirit by defeating combatants with Machine Guns in the Daily Focus Playlist.
    • All strike playlists are compatible with this quest step.

When you have obtained the catalyst for Heir Apparent, you must then defeat 700 enemies with the Heir Apparent to complete the catalyst (Strikes or Altar of Sorrow work great). Heir Apparent will become Masterworked (gains a kill tracker and generates orbs on multi-kills) and increases the durability of the Arc Shield. In addition, when the shield is broken by a combatant, some of the magazine is partially reloaded.

How to Participate

Visit Eva Levante in the Tower to begin the event.

The main objective for the event is to earn medals for your respective class by partaking in various activities across the solar system. Turn in your medals at the Tower Podium to increase your class score. At the end of the event, a winner will be decided and will have bragging rights, as well as a commemorative statue in the Tower until the next Guardian Games the following year!

The Tower Podium

During Guardian Games, the Towers Guardian Games Podium will change daily to reflect the current status of the leading team. Class flags will update throughout the day to show which team is leading, and there will also be a calendar showing the winner for each day throughout the event.

Every weekend there will be a special ceremony where you will be able show off a glow from your class item depending on your class’ standing that week.
  • Third place receives a bronze glow.
  • Second place receives a silver glow.
  • First place receives a gold glow.
  • All-Stars receive a platinum glow.

There will be a special final weekend closing ceremony held in the Tower that will go live from May 7 through May 11 to celebrate the winning  class!

Inventory and Materials

Laurels

Pick up Laurels (coloured motes) dropped by other players during Guardian Games to purchase Bounties, Contender Cards, and rewards from Eva. Laurels will drop in all activities except for Gambit and Crucible, where they will be awarded after a match has ended. Keep an eye out to make sure you don’t miss picking any Laurels up when playing PvE activities!

Medals

Players can earn medals from Triumphs, Contender Cards, and activity completions. Medals are stored in the Medal Case found in the Quest inventory. Turning completed Medals into the Tower Podium will increase your team’s score. Medals are what you are aiming for during this competition. Try to multi-task – get as much as you can done!

You will receive a Medal Case from Eva to store your hardware until you are ready to visit the podium in the Tower to bank them for your team. Turning in medals also gives you a chance at receiving an event package depending on the medal type.

Bronze: 1 Point | Silver: 2 Points | Gold: 5 Points | Platinum: 15 Points

Contender Medals

Players can purchase Contender Cards from Eva. Completing the Trials or Nightfall Contender Cards will award a Platinum Medal. Completing the Strikes, Gambit, or Crucible Contender Card will award a Gold Medals. There are also special Platinum Contender Cards that, once completed, earns you an All-Star Status and provides you with a special reward at the next podium ceremony.

If the Medal Case is full, Medals earned through claiming Triumphs will be lost.

NOTE:

  • Players must wear their Guardian Games class item to generate Laurels and progress any Guardian Game bounties.
  • Previous Guardian Games class items (the Cunning Rivalry Cloak, Mighty Rivalry Mark, and Sage Rivalry Bond) will not generate Laurels or progress any Guardian Games bounties.
  • Laurels do not drop on the ground in Gambit or Crucible, and are instead rewarded directly to players.
  • Unrecovered laurels do not go to a player’s Postmaster and must be picked up to count towards their total.
  • Make sure you complete your Platinum Contender Card before daily reset on Friday if you want to lock in your All-Star Status for the weekend!
  • The Laurel acquisition step of Heir Apparent Exotic Quest only counts Laurels picked up off the ground.
