What are Origin Traits?

  • Introduced during Year 8: The Witch Queen, Origin Traits are the innate buffs that a weapon has. These traits can be divided into two traits − an Activity Trait and a Manufacturer Trait. In case a weapon has both of these traits, only one trait will be active at any given point in time
  • Origin Traits serve to give weapon foundries and activity-specific weapons (such as Crucible or Nightfall Strikes) more identity that stands out from other weapons.
  • This guide provides a list of all Origin Traits currently in the game as well as image examples

Third-Party Access

Light.gg

  • View the Dropbar below to access Light.gg, a third-party website by AFPAC, that provides information on all weapons and items within the Destiny 2 Database! Support the makers of  Light.gg if you find yourself using their website/app often!
  • From the list of Activity and Manufacturer Traits below, you can also click on the Origin Trait icon to view additional information about that trait on Light.gg. Light.gg includes Community Research, Ratings, Weapon Lists, and more!
Light.gg Quick Access

Weapons obtained before The Witch Queen will not have Origin Traits. Only weapons obtained in The Witch Queen going forward will have these traits.

Manufacturer Origin Traits

  • Manufacturer Origin Traits are found on weapons built by Tower Weapon Foundries
  • Each perk provides a unique benefit based on the theme of each Foundry
  • Foundry Weapons that are also in the Core Activity Loot Pool will have both the Manufacturer Trait and Activity Trait to choose from
    • You can only have one active at a time
    • For example, the Fortissimo-11 SUROS Shotgun found in Vanguard Strikes will have the Vanguard’s Vindication Activity trait and the SUROS Synergy Manufacturer Trait.

Activity Origin Traits

  • Activity Traits can be found on weapons exclusive to core/endgame activities, seasonal/expansion content and raids.
  • Endgame Activities (Nightfalls and Trials of Osiris) will feature their own unique trait as well as the core activity trait
    • You can only have one active at a time
    • For example, the Summoner Auto Rifle from Trials of Osiris will drop with Alacrity and One Quiet Moment.
