What is Endgame Content?

  • Destiny 2 offers a wide range of PvE endgame content, ranging from higher difficulty Lost Sectors, Conquests, Dungeons and Raids!
  • Higher-difficulty content typically requires stronger gear, optimized builds, specific weapon and armour mods, and pre-formed fireteams as most activity content at this level is not matchmaking-enabled.
  • This page goes over raids including how they work, power level requirements, quick access to video guides, and information on raid seals.

Getting Started with Raids

Frequently Asked Questions
What are Raids?
  • Raids are 6-player high difficulty arenas that have multiple challenging encounters for players to learn and overcome
  • Because of the complexity of raid encounters, matchmaking is disabled.
  • Complete Raid Encounters to unlock new armour, weapons, and cosmetic items (shaders, emblems, ships & sparrows)
  • NOTE: Some Raids require related Expansions.
How do Master Raids work?
  • As of Lightfall, Master Raids & Dungeons will have the following modifiers:
    • One Overcharged weapon (an Overcharged weapon will deal +25% more damage)
    • Two Surges (Using a Surging Element will grant +25% more damage; if you have the matching subclass equipped, your Kinetic weapons also do +25% more damage)
    • No Threat Modifier (Threats increase enemy output damage by +25%, which you don’t have to worry about in these activities!)
  • In addition, to ensure it’s a fair fight:
    • Combatants in these activities will not have increased health or stagger resistance.
    • Enemy Health Pools have been fined-tuned so that if ignore elemental buildcrafting, you’ll experience day-one raid-like combat difficulty.
What are Seals and how do I earn them?
  • Guardians are able to unlock Seals by completing specific objectives outlined in that seal
  • When a Seal has been claimed and applied, a purple title will be displayed under your name and will be visible in your character menu.
    • Bragging rights for completing that objective, one could say!
  • Most Dungeons and Raids offer a seal that you can complete and equip to show off how you mastered that endgame content!

Which raid should I start with?
  • Newer players should usually start with Vault of Glass, Crota’s End or Root of Nightmares before moving into raids like Vow of the Disciple, Last Wish, Salvation’s Edge, or The Desert Perpetual.
  • Destiny 2 raids are the pinnacle 6-player cooperative endgame activities.
  • They require deep communication, complex puzzle-solving, and precise team coordination across multiple encounters culminating in a climactic boss fight.
  • In return, players are rewarded with exclusive raid-specific weapons, armor, and highly coveted Exotic gear.

How do they work?

  • Unlike standard missions where you just shoot enemies, raid encounters require your team to solve visual, spatial, and timing puzzles.
  • If a team fails to execute a mechanic correctly (e.g., matching symbols or carrying a specific buff), the entire team will often be forced to restart the encounter phase or wipe entirely.
  • Every individual player is typically given a specific job (such as “reading symbols,” “killing a specific enemy,” or “holding a plate”).
    • Clear communication and knowing your exact role are critical to survival.

Power Level Requirements & Power Tiers

  • Most Legacy Raids are scaled to a lower entry Power, making them highly accessible for new and returning players.
  • Newer raids and Master difficulty variants require stronger builds, higher Power, and better team coordination.
  • The Desert Perpetual begins at 100 Power on Normal difficulty, while Master difficulty is recommended for players at 300+ Power.
    • Power progression reaches a 550 Power cap, with newer rewards dropping at higher baseline levels as of recent updates.
  • Fireteam Power helps lower-level players participate with stronger teammates, but optimized weapons, subclass builds, survivability, and raid mechanic knowledge still matter more than raw Power alone.

Before You Raid

  • Bring a microphone or be ready to communicate clearly through text/chat.
  • Watch or skim a guide before joining a learning run.
  • Bring survivability tools: healing, damage resistance, add-clear, and boss damage options.
  • Be honest about experience level; “first clear” or “learning run” groups are normal.
  • Expect wipes. Raids are built around learning mechanics through repetition. Be patient, and most importantly, have fun! 😊
