Frequently Asked Questions
How do Kepler-specific destination abilities work?
- Kepler introduces four new “destination abilities”: Matterspark, Rosetta, Relocator, and Mattermorph
- These are unlocked via campaign missions.
- These aren’t just cosmetic: each ability is essential for solving puzzles, accessing hidden pathways, and unlocking Mystery chests scattered around Kepler
- Collectively, they form a Metroidvania-style progression system unique to this destination.

Is Kepler a public space?
- No. Like The Pale Heart, this destination will not feature public spaces.
- Only you and your fireteam will be in the destination.
- It is unknown at this time if Bungie will enable public spaces to these destinations.
I keep seeing a bunch of chests I can't unlock. How do I unlock them?
- There are four types of Mystery chests on Kepler, each tied to one ability.
- Requires Matterspark: “Requires highly concentrated unknown energy”
- Requires Rosetta: “Requires knowledge of an unfamiliar language”
- Requires Relocator Cannon: “Requires upgrade Fallen tech”
- Requires Mattermorph: “Requires undiscovered technology”
- Each chest also has two upgrade tiers, so you’ll often revisit an area once you’ve progressed the associated Strangelet questline.
- These chests guarantee Tier 2 gear, making them vital targets for loot hunting.

What is "The Sieve" and how do World Tiers affect rewards?
- The Sieve” is a scheduled Zone event on Kepler, a free-roam task where you defend a Dark Matter extractor against waves of enemies.
- It’s one of the best ways to farm destination materials (like Phaseglass, Fated Ciphers), earn Tier 5 gear drops and the exotic armor introduced in Edge of Fate.
- Plus, Kepler introduces a World Tiers system:
- Brave, Legendary, Fabled, and Mythic
- Higher tiers (like Mythic at 200 Power) cap radar and reduce Power above enemies, but offer progressively better loot for every chest, Mystery, and Sieve completion.
Campaign & Difficulty Modes
- New with this expansion, the Edge of Fate has four difficulty levels:
- Brave: Your standard experience with moderate difficulty.
- Legendary: Enemies are harder to defeat, and you’ll encounter banes and limited revives in darkness zones.
- Fabled: Enemies are more aggressive, quite difficult to defeat. Life is hard but manageable.
- Mythic: Enemies will actively try to destroy you. Only the craziest of Guardians will challenge themselves with such an ordeal.
- Completing Legendary or higher will guarantee an exotic reward.
- The higher the difficulty, the better tiered loot you’ll receive, plus rewards are more frequent.
- Difficulty scales to your fireteam size.
World Tiers
- Brave and Legendary are available as you venture through the Edge of Fate Campaign.
- Fabled and Mythic are available after completing the campaign.
- The higher tier you play, the better rewards you will receive (multiplier goes from 1 to 4)
- Difficulty scales to your fireteam size.
- Fabled and Mythic will have additional modifiers such as Chaff (no radar), banes (enemies with a unique debuff – you’ll see an element over their name)
Vendor: Altar of Relativity
- The Altar of Relativity is a unique vendor that you’ll interact with shortly after starting the campaign.
- As you progress through the campaign, you’ll unlock additional features and rewards.
- When you finish the main campaign, all content will be visible:
- Pursuits: Guaranteed weapons that can be obtained by completing specific Edge of Fate triumphs.
- Rewards Tab:
- Attunement: The Attunement option allows you to focus on one particular armor or weapon from Kepler; selecting an item will increase the drop chance of that particular item.
- Focused Decoding: Allows you to focus a limited number of items each day; these require materials and Tier 2 and Tier 3 engrams require specific triumph completions.
- Upgrades & Exchange: Nodes and rewards that you can obtain using destination materials to improve reward output/obtain unique rewards.
Destination Materials
- Like other destinations, you can find destination material found out in the wild on Kepler.
- Unlike other destinations, Kepler features four mutated versions of materials from past locations.
- You can also earn these materials by completing Mysteries, Sieve events, and other region-specific content.
- At the Altar of Relativity, you trade region materials (depending on the day) plus Fated Ciphers to focus or upgrade Kepler gear.
- Destination materials on Kepler can drop at different rarity levels providing more per drop the higher the rarity:
- Common (Green): Harvesting materials and completing basic activities on Kepler.
- Rare (Blue): Earned from mid-tier challenges.
- Legendary (Purple): Endgame Content and defeating powerful combatants on Kepler, particularly in higher world tiers.
- Found in the Aionian Campus and the Caldera.

- Originally found on Titan!
- Found in the Outer Steppes and the Invitation.

Graviton through the Ages
Exotic Quest
What is it?
- The Graviton Through the Ages Exotic Quest is the Kepler destination exotic quest that earns you the exotic Hand Cannon, Graviton Spike.
- This Hand Cannon weapon is a hybrid between a 150 RPM Arc primary and a 90 RPM Stasis shotgun.
How to Unlock Quest
- To unlock this quest, you’ll need to complete the Edge of Fate campaign on any difficulty.
- Once you have completed your final mission, visit the Altar of Relativity in Caldera to pick up the quest, then speak to Lodi.
- This is a pretty straightforward quest to complete, and will task you to find collectibles and play the new Sieve activity.

Destination Abilities
- Kepler features dark matter that Guardians can use as additional abilities to navigate this destination and unlock secrets.
- There are four Destination abilities that can be unlocked:
- Matterspark: This transforms you into a small ball of electricity.
- Rosetta: This allows you to translate Aionian language and open areas/chests.
- Relocator Cannon: Use this on Relocator pads to teleport to a specific location.
- Mattermorph: Use this to morph surroundings, such as pieces of structures or plants using your Strand abilities.
- As you progress through the campaign, you’ll unlock upgrades to your destination abilities, expanding what your abilities can do.
Secret Chests
- To unlock secret chests scattered across Kepler, you’ll need to unlock these destination abilities.
- If you do not have the specific ability unlock, you’ll see a message over the chest:
- Requires Matterspark: “Requires highly concentrated unknown energy”
- Requires Rosetta: “Requires knowledge of an unfamiliar language”
- Requires Relocator Cannon: “Requires upgrade Fallen tech”
- Requires Mattermorph: “Requires undiscovered technology”
- Keep a mental note on these chests! You can go back and unlock them once you’ve upgraded your Kepler Ability Toolkit.
Destination Activity: Sieve
- Pronounced “Siv.” Sorry, Aztecross.
- This activity unlocks after the campaign.
- The Sieve activity occurs every so often on the Kepler destination; refer to the Kepler map to check when it is active.
- Complete a variety of encounters that rotate.
- The boss encounters are similar with basic mechanics you’ve dealt throughout the campaign, such as overcharging and detonating your matterspark energy on a boss.
- Completing the final encounter will provide several reward chests, including one that will reward the destination exotic armor; this is a great way to farm rolls for that exotic, or get them on your alternate characters!

Raid: The Desert Perpetual
- Set within a Vex‑twisted domain of the Nine, this raid introduces non‑linear progression: players select any of the first three encounters – Agraios, Iatros, or Epoptes – before facing the final boss, Keregos, Lord of the Worldline.
Note: Raids are endgame activities. Use communication and of course – be patient!
Encounters: General Information & Mechanics

Opening Encounter
- Objective: Interact with one of three purple half‑spheres to select your next boss path.
- Each sphere leads to a distinct encounter arena.
Iatros, Inward‑Tuned (Wyvern)
- Objective:
- Clear packs of six Minotaurs to collect Chronons, deposit via the hourglass for time.
- Once Chronon deposits start the crystal spawn and DPS window, roles split into Runners, Breakers, Jumper, and Climber, each handling platforming, sphere shattering, and DPS coordination.
- DPS Phase:
- Rocket launchers like Gjallarhorn, grenade launchers, or Legend of Acrius deliver strong burst DPS
- Mechanics:
- Add and Chronon Phase
- At start, six Minotaurs spawn; kill them to collect Chronons (blue, white, or red).
- Deposit Chronons into the central hourglass via a portal to progress the encounter.
- Buff & Platform Selection
- Upon hourglass filling, every player receives a Diastole buff, ticking four times.
- A Vex lattice appears on one of three platforms (color-matched to Chronon); the chosen platform becomes your Absolute Temporality buff location.
- Cube-Building and Climber Role
- Three players (assigned A/B/C) each shoot vex boxes stacked vertically at their platforms.
- They’ll begin from bottom to top as Diastole ticks occur.
- The buffed “Climber” ascends each structure to interact with a small cube at the top—done three times total.

- DPS Phase
- Once cubes are interacted with, the boss enters a ~15–20 s damage phase.
- Boss movement is dictated by Chronon colour: e.g., red Chronons → Wyvern moves from red → blue, etc.
- To stop wipe timers, continue clearing Minotaurs and depositing Chronons during DPS.
- Add and Chronon Phase
- Possible Rewards:
- Finite Maybe (Fusion), The When and Where (Rocket)
- Chest, Helmet
Agraios, Inherent (Hobgoblin trio)
- Objective:
- Hydra spawns, then Minotaurs drop Chronons.
- Portals need activation by walking through them.
- Players pick buffs (Absolute, Cyclical, Constant) to align with boss personality platforms.
- A designated detainment‑grenade holder must block boss shots, enabling DPS phases interspersed with portal recharges and blocker duties
- Preferred DPS Weapons:
- Precision weapons like Linear Fusion Rifles shine, especially with headshots.
- Mechanics:
- Boss Split & Add Phase
- Agraios splits into three phase types: Cyclical, Absolute, Constant, each buff corresponds to a plate on the platform
- A Hydra appears; killing it triggers five Minotaurs that drop Cobalt Chronons, needed to charge five central Accelerator rings
- Buff Holders & Ring Coordination
- Three players grab buffs (plate-based), then charge Chronons into the rings.
- First player (e.g., Cyclical) then interacts under their boss platform to gain Temporal Alignment, activating DPS phase.
- Detainment & DPS Extension
- A player must run through all five rings to charge a Detainment Grenade, while remaining teammates maximize DPS against the boss in center.
- After burst, Agraios teleports to another platform: repeat buff grab → alignment → ring run to extend DPS
- Phase Completion
- Multiple cycles (2–3) of alignment/ring runs may be needed to complete this encounter.
- Boss Split & Add Phase
- Possible Rewards:
- Antedate (SMG), Lance Ephemeral (Sniper), Intercalary (Auto)
Epoptes, Lord of Quanta (Hydra)
- Objective:
- Emphasizes tight coordination in an arena where Vex eyes must be shot post‑Chronon deposits.
- Survivability and shield‑breaking strategies are key; look for callouts to time eye shots before DPS begins!
- Mechanics:
- Buff Pickup & Side-Room Calls
- After defeating Time’s Magistrate Cyclops adds, two players grab the Constant Temporality debuff by standing on side plates; this grants entry into the side shield rooms.
- Inside each room, players must stand in the glowing beam to stop their debuff timer and identify which eye to shoot on the Hydra shield.
- Call-Out Precision & Shield Coordination
- The two debuffed players have to communicate exactly which shield-eye is lit (visually distinct), then shoot the opposing player’s marked eye from the other room.
- Note: Mistimed or wrong eye shots can cause shields to regenerate, delaying DPS phases.
- Shield Phasing & DPS Transitions
- Once shields are broken, the DPS phase starts.
- However, Cyclops add spawns and laser mechanics return shortly after, so players must re-grab debuffs, run into middle plates, and handle second call-outs to extend the DPS window.
- These cycles repeat 2–3 times per full encounter, with each extension requiring precise rhythm and callouts.
- Buff Pickup & Side-Room Calls
- Tips:
- Pre-assign roles: designate clear inside/outside players for quick positioning.
- Mark callouts as numbers (1–6) or visual cues, not vague descriptions.
- Possible Rewards:
- Opaque Hourglass (Combat Bow)
- Arms, Legs, Class Item
Keregos, The Worldline (Final Encounter)
- Objective:
- Combines previously introduced mechanics with added complexity: advanced Chronon and buff cycles, platform navigation, detainment mechanics, and synchronized DPS bursts.
- Requires execution precision mirroring all earlier encounters
- Mechanics:
- Role Assignment & Buff Setup
- As the fight begins, every player grabs a temporality buff from plates:
- Constant (left plate): sees the color of floating mines.
- Cyclical (right): determines if the mine is active (bright) or not.
- Absolute (center): detects the color of the central hourglass ring

- Lower Platform – Chronon Mining & Hourglass Filling
- Turret destruction & Hydra/Minotaur waves kick off the mining phase.
- All three buffed players pick up Temporal Oculus by using a plate on the pillar lattice lasting ~20 seconds
- With Oculus active:
- Absolute calls out hourglass color.
- Constant calls the color of mines.
- Cyclical confirms whether each mine is active
- Repeat six cycles of “mine matching → destroy → chronon pickup → dunk” to fill the hourglass.
- Trigger the timer and expose the Vex crystal, then destroy it to move to the upper stage.
- Transition to Upper Platform
- Platforms spawn leading to the Harpy’s top; all jump up and shoot the crystal beneath the hourglass to officially begin the next phase!
- Upper Display & Cube Activation
- Four cube pillars appear around the platform:
- Absolute sees 3 cubes.
- Constant & Cyclical each see different pairs of 2.
- Buffed players stand and emote at their cubes, then Absolute interacts with the cube common to both Constant and Cyclical
- Repeat four times (one per pillar) to trigger the damage phase.
- Damage Phase & Final-Stand Mechanics
- The boss’s crit eyes light up; shoot them quickly.
- Chronons spawn on the upper platform; one player collects and dunks them for damage-extension.
- Watch for arc laser beams and pool effects!
- After around 15–20 seconds, boss enters Final Stand:
- Crits realign vertically; spread positioning is essential.
- Save supers and heavy burst weapons.
- Once boss nears death, a wipe-debuff timer starts: simply jump off the platform to avoid wipe and complete the kill
- Role Assignment & Buff Setup
- Possible Rewards:
- Exotic Whirling Ovation (Strand Rocket) + any other raid weapons, full armor set
Raid Loot
Frame of Reference
Final blows with this weapon temporarily grant increased damage, reload speed, and range. This effect is frozen in time while the weapon is stowed.
Enhanced: Improves the amount of bonus received.
Found on any Desert Perpetual raid weapon.
Seal: Atemporal
- Players can earn this raid Seal by completing various triumphs from the raid.
- Earning these triumphs will require a fireteam, and many triumphs require team coordination.
- Some of the triumphs offer additional rewards and improved chances of acquiring the raid exotic.
