Get Started with Solo Ops
Solo Ops Updates in Monument of Triumph
- Solo Ops Bonus Objectives are now all generic kill based rather than precision/ability/etc.
- Destroying all drones in a Solo Ops activity will now properly award bonus points.
- You can now focus Solo Ops gear by visiting Commander Zavala in the Tower.
- Tiered Focusing will utilize Vanguard engrams.
What is Solo Ops?
- Solo Ops is Destiny 2’s solo-focused Ops category.
- These activities are designed for fast, repeatable runs that can be completed alone, usually in familiar destination, campaign, or mission spaces.
- Guardians can choose supported difficulties, use activity modifiers, chase reward grades, and earn tiered activity rewards.
- With Monument of Triumph, difficulty and modifiers now feed into a simplified scoring model where each difficulty starts from a clearer baseline grade and reward tier.
- Solo Ops is best for players who want a focused solo activity loop, quick reward attempts, and a way to practice builds without needing a fireteam.
Solo Ops Rewards, Scoring & Power
- Solo Ops rewards are tied more clearly to activity grade and reward tier.
- Difficulty gives a flat score bonus, modifiers add flat score bonuses, and grade targets no longer scale with player Power.
- Each difficulty starts from a baseline grade: Normal starts at B, Advanced starts at B+, Expert starts at A, Master starts at A+, Grandmaster starts at S, and Ultimate starts at S+.
- These grades map directly into reward tiers, with S and S+ both awarding Tier 5 rewards.
- Power is still part of Destiny 2 progression, but it is no longer a source of score bonuses.
- A-grade rewards and higher can continue awarding positive Power progression up to the 550 hard cap, with higher grades providing larger Power bonuses.
- For efficient Solo Ops farming, focus on consistent clears, manageable modifiers, survivability, and builds that can complete objectives quickly.
- The better approach is choosing a difficulty and modifier setup you can complete reliably while still reaching the reward grade you want.
- You can now focus Solo Ops gear by visiting Commander Zavala in the Tower.
- Tiered Focusing will utilize Vanguard engrams.
Build Tips for Solo Play
- When you’re running Solo Ops, you’re relying on your agility, survivability, and efficiency with one character, so here’s how to gear up right:
- Pick a solo‑friendly class:
- According to veteran Guardians, Titans are currently the easiest for Solo Ops: tanky, forgiving, and with strong subclass synergies.
- Warlocks excel once mastered, but Hunters are regarded as the most challenging to “carry” with…especially solo.
- That said, buildcrafting strong builds can prove your resilience no matter the class!
- Leverage Armour 3.0 set bonuses:
- Armor sets like Bushido (from Pinnacle Ops) offer weapon-based recovery, while Techsec (Fireteam Ops sets) significantly buff shield-breaking damage.
- Mix-and-match both two-piece and four-piece bonuses with your exotic armor to amplify survivability.
- Adapt for Daily/Weekly seasonal affinities:
- Some days the seasonal activities reward increased gains from certain elements or weapons, such as solar focus; bring mods and weapons that match for +Power bonus, especially in Solo Ops where your weapon‑flip synergy pays off in each bonus‑friendly run.
- Pick a solo‑friendly class:
Loot Pool
- NOTE: Solo Ops and Fireteam Ops have a unique weapons rewards pool and share a new Armor Collection with a set bonus.
Vanguard Determination
After using your class ability, final blows with this weapon grant you bonus damage resistance.
Enhanced: Improves the duration of this trait.
Found on weapons obtained in Fireteam Ops activities or Zavala’s Vendor Offerings in the Tower Courtyard.
Actively Dropped Gear
- Gear that drops from Solo Ops activities.
- For veteran Guardians, you may remember these weapon drops – they are reprised ritual weapons from past seasons!
Free Roam
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Free Roam?
- In Destiny 1 & 2, Guardians are able to venture across multiple locations via the Director and freely explore these beautiful locations
- When selecting a destination, you are able to choose a landing zone. Note that some destinations may only have one landing zone depending on the size.
- While Free Roaming, Guardians may come across patrol beacons, materials, chests, and public events that spawn in areas that provide experience and additional rewards.
- Some locations can also contain a number of secrets to discover that can provide additional loot and triumphs!
What kind of zone is Kepler? How is it different from traditional patrols like EDZ or Neomuna?
- Kepler is a post‑campaign free‑roam destination split into four major regions, each filled with large encounters, puzzles and secrets; think of them like upgraded Lost Sectors spread across a zone
- It does not function like old patrol zones: there’s no public matchmaking, no public events, and your fireteam is launched into an isolated instance.
- To learn more about Kepler, visit our Kepler page found in our Knowledge Base > World Hub.
Why are there "world tiers" in Kepler? How do they work?
- After the campaign, you unlock Fabled → Mythic tiers (equivalent to tiers 2–3 power caps), each refining the world with tougher enemies, greater loot potential, and more secrets.
- In each tier, the map resets, allowing you to retackle puzzles and hidden zones.
- To switch world tiers, open the Kepler map and click the crowned skull icon to adjust your world tier.
- You can switch tier‑by‑tier at any time after they unlock.
- To learn more about Kepler, visit our Kepler page found in our Knowledge Base > World Hub.

Patrols
- A patrol is an activity node (or NPC) that you can access while in free roam that requires you to complete a specific objective. Most destinations have patrol nodes.
- Complete patrols in passing for destination reputation (if applicable), XP and Clan XP (if in a clan). In a nutshell:
- Land on any destination (such as the EDZ, Cosmodrome, Neomuna, or Nessus).
- Pull out your Ghost. Look for the small, white blinking beacons scattered around the map.
- Walk up to a beacon and hold the interact button to accept the mission.
- Complete the on-screen objective. The patrol will automatically finish and reward you.
- Not seeing a patrol that you like? Abandon patrols to refresh the area’s patrol nodes. Excludes Cosmodrome, Europa and Savathûn’s Throne World, which have dedicated patrol points with randomized objectives. Take out your ghost to view the full patrol objective.
- In newer destinations (same list as above), some patrols have heroic variants that are a little bit harder to complete but reward even more XP!
- For Ability Kill Patrols, uncharged melee strikes count toward progression!
- Hover over the icons below to learn more about each type of patrol you may encounter out in the wild.
Collect mission-specific items. This is usually an easy objective to complete.
Eliminate combatants. This is the easiest patrol type to complete.

Distortions

- Distortions are enhanced Patrol moments that target specific destinations.
- Distortions are a new Monument of Triumph enhancement to Patrol / destination play.
- Every hour, one destination becomes distorted, with the active planet and remaining time shown on the Destinations screen.
- While active, the destination has a red visual glow / altered environment, enemies become tougher and more aggressive, and Public Event rewards are boosted.
- Distortions can include strange signals, hidden rewards, Distortion-specific events, and a new weapon set tied to the feature.
Distortion Rewards
Reward Logic
When a destination is affected by a Distortion, Public Event rewards are upgraded by one tier. Heroic completions start higher and can also benefit from the Distortion bonus.
| Activity | Normal Reward | During Distortion |
|---|---|---|
| Public Event Completion | Tier 3 with a chance at Tier 4 or Tier 5 rewards. | Reward tier is increased by 1. |
| Heroic Public Event Completion | Tier 4 with a chance at Tier 5 rewards. | Reward tier is increased by 1. |
| Distortion-Specific Events | Not available outside active Distortions. | May award unique Distortion rewards. |
Note: Distortions rotate across select destinations and are meant to make Patrol spaces more rewarding by boosting Public Event rewards and adding extra danger to the active destination.
