Armor Synthesis, Wares & Exotic Focusing
Learn more about Ada-1's offerings, such as the ability to transmog gear and how to focus armor.
What is Transmogrification?
- Transmogrification is a process that enables Guardians to wear any armour appearance on their currently equipped legendary armour set!
- Ada-1 has set up in the Tower and, with the help of Guardians, has secured unique Braytech secrets allowing her to create a device she refers to as The Loom.
- The Loom creates a material known as Synthweave, which when used on armour, converts it to a Universal Ornament, allowing Guardians to use their armour appearance whenever they wish!
- During the Year of Prophecy (2025), Ada-1 will be offering Exotic Armour Focusing to allow Guardians to upgrade their existing Exotic Armour to the new Armor 3.0 system.

- Note that you cannot apply universal ornaments to exotic armor.

Synthweaves & How to Acquire Them
- Ada-1 will initially provide Guardians with a quest to create their first set of Synthweave.
- Going forward, however, there is a process required by Ada-1 in order to create the material necessary for your Universal Ornaments. Most common, rare, and legendary armour pieces can be converted into a Universal Ornament!
Introductory Quest
- At a glance, Guardians will need to complete the following:
- 1: Visit Ada-1 in the Tower Annex to acquire the Introduction Quest.
- 2: Go to Europa and track down the components necessary.
- Follow the Quest marker on the directory screen. You can select the quest to add markings on your screen as you navigate through Europa.
- Note: If you are a new player/have not yet completed Europa’s introductory mission, you won’t be able to progress through this step. Complete the Darkness’s Doorstep accessible on the Europa World Map first, and then complete this step.
- 3: Return to Ada-1; she will then ask you to Purchase Bounties offered by Ada-1 to receive Synthcord.
- A bounty costs 10,000 Glimmer. You can only choose one bounty type at a time.
- 4: Return to the Loom in the Annex.
As an alternative route, Guardians may visit Tess Everis in the Tower to purchase Synthweave Templates for 300 Silver for one template or 1000 Silver for five templates.
Ada-1's Inventory: Bounties, Armor Sets, Shaders & Exotic Focusing
Threader Bounties
- Threader bounties are offered to Guardians that reward Synthcord, the necessary material that can be converted to Synthweave.
- Ada offers up to 20 Threader Bounties per season, per class.
- Each bounty costs 150 Synthstrand and will provide randomized objectives; Guardians can only hold one bounty at a time.
- As of Edge of Fate, the Threader bounties have been overhauled and simplified:
- PvE: Bounties that can be completed anywhere in PvE activities, no longer sends players to specific destinations (ex: Blind Well, Altars of Sorrow).
- PvP: Bounties that can be completed in any PvP mode (Crucible, Trials, etc.).
- Raids & dungeons: Unchanged from previous version; Most commonly requires completing encounters in a raid or dungeon.
Ada-1's Exotic Focusing
- Ada will offer players who have made it to the Tower for the first time before The Edge of Fate a bundle of Exotic armor tokens to be used to roll for Exotic armors with new stat packages.
- Ada’s Exotic focusing will only be available in the Year of Prophecy.
- Players must have unlocked an item in collections before it is eligible for rerolls on Ada-1.
- These tokens are a one-time offer.
- These offers will disappear from Ada when all tokens have been spent.
- No new armors will be added to this in the future, so there is no benefit to hording tokens.
Armour Sets
- To assist Guardians with their armour collections, Ada-1 offers a full set of armour with fixed stats each week.
- The Stats are randomized and may be purchased with various materials.
- Ada’s inventory of legacy armors has been expanded as of Edge of Fate to include armors previously distributed via Xûr.
- Legacy armor will cost:
- 15000 Glimmer
- Three Enhancement Cores

Shader Inventory
- As of Season 20, Ada-1 offers Destiny 2 shaders that have been unavailable for quite some time.
- Each week, she will offer 3 shaders and each shader will cost 10,000 glimmer to acquire.

How to Create a Universal Ornament
- Access the Armour Customization page via your Character Inventory Menu.
- From there, you have access to a page that enables armour customization. A video has been provided for your reference!
- At a glance, this is how to create an ornament:
- Step 1: Select the armour type you wish to customize. (Ex: Chest Armour)
- Step 2: In the Default Ornament slot, access your available and pending armour pieces.
- All armour pieces with a lock (🔒) symbol have yet to be unlocked as an ornament.
- Hover over the armour piece you wish to convert.
- Step 3: Use the designated command depending on your platform to unlock the piece, effectively converting it into a Universal Ornament!
- You can select Apply to make that armour piece appear on your character!
- Your ornaments will also appear on the individual armour pieces in the character menu as well, once unlocked.
Current Limitations
- Several Year 1 armour ornaments are currently unavailable due to “technical constraints,” but Bungie is working hard to provide a solution to this in a future Season.

Most common, rare, and legendary armour pieces can be converted to Universal Ornaments.
Due to the capabilities of exotic armour, they cannot be converted.
