What is the Heavy Metal event?

Heavy Metal is a 3v3 Crucible playlist where players battle using Cabal Drake tanks and Fallen Brig mechs.
The goal is to destroy enemy vehicles and collect the coins they drop to score points.
The first team to 50 points wins.
- Gameplay Loop: Destroy an enemy vehicle (1 point), collect the dropped coin (1 additional point), and repeat. Collecting coins also restores health and secondary weapon ammo.
- Leader Mechanic: The player with the highest score on either team becomes the “leader,” glowing with improved dodge capabilities. Defeating an enemy leader drops a gold coin worth 2 points.
- Controls: Vehicles have a primary cannon, a secondary powerful but slow weapon, and a dodge/melee ability for quick movement.

How do I start the event?

Visit Lord Shaxx in the Tower to pick up the introductory quest, “Path of Demolition”.

How do I progress the event pass quickly?

Some quick tips & tricks to complete this event as quickly as possible:
- Daily and Weekly Challenges offer the most significant progress.
- Reroll Chips: Use these chips to refresh completed daily challenges for more opportunities to earn progress.

What are some tips for success in the mode?

Teamwork is key: Stick with teammates. The vehicle time-to-kill (TTK) is long, and ganging up on enemies is the most effective strategy.
Collect Coins: Always grab coins from defeated enemies; they provide health and ammo refills, in addition to points.
Use Cover: You lack defensive abilities, so use the environment (rocks, cliffs) to avoid incoming fire.
Lead Shots: The projectiles are slow, so aim ahead of moving targets.
Play your life: Avoid reckless charges to maintain kill streaks and maximize your performance, which can affect the quality of your loot.

This is a limited time event, free for all players, that features an experimental Crucible Game mode where Guardians hop into Drake Tanks and Fallen Brigs.
How to Play:
- Blow up enemy vehicles to score 1 point.
- Grab the Coin they drop for another point.
- Pick up Coins to heal up and reload your secondary weapon.
- Keep an eye on the enemy team’s leader — they’ll be glowing and harder to hit thanks to a buffed Dodge. Take them out and snag their Gold Coin for 2 points!
- First team to hit 50 points takes the win.
This limited time event uses the Event Home system (see above for more details) with a Reward Track with 15 rewards to earn!
- This event also debuts a brand new combat vehicle, the Gryphon!
