This page has been updated for Destiny 2: Renegades.

What is Endgame Content?

  • Destiny 2 offers a wide range of PvE endgame content, ranging from higher difficulty Lost Sectors, Conquests, Dungeons and Raids!
  • Higher-difficulty content typically requires stronger gear, optimized builds, specific weapon and armour mods, and pre-formed fireteams as most activity content at this level is not matchmaking-enabled.
  • This page will go over some of the Destiny 2 endgame content that you may encounter that is currently accessible in the game.

Expert & Master Lost Sectors

Frequently Asked Questions
What are Lost Sectors?
  • Most destinations in Destiny 2 feature a number of mini-arenas called Lost Sectors that feature a horde of enemies, a boss, and a treasure cache.
  • Defeating the boss unlocks the treasure cache which can reward glimmer and legendary loot!
What are Expert & Master Lost Sectors?
  • A variety of locations can feature Expert and Master Lost Sectors that increase the enemy’s difficulty and add modifiers.
  • These types of Lost Sectors reward Enhancement Cores, Gunsmith Engrams, World Drops and additional rewards.
    • These higher-difficulty lost sectors change daily.
    • You’ll see a blue Lost Sector symbol on the Destination!
    • If you get a Platinum Score, you’ll get the most rewards!
  • NOTE: If you haven’t yet unlocked that Lost Sector, the Expert/Master Lost Sector will not be displayed.
How will I know what is being offered for the day?
  • You’ll need to locate the Expert/Master Lost Sector by visiting the Director; a blue Lost Sector symbol will be displayed.
  • Hover over that symbol to see what the Lost Sector is, what modifiers and what armour piece is dropping from that Lost Sector.
    • When you’re at the Lost Sector activity in the destination, you’ll also be able to see this information!
  • Alternatively, you can use Third-Party Apps, such as Braytech, D2 Checklist or Kyber’s Discord Bot for daily notifications.
An Update to Legend & Master Lost Sectors
  • Effective in Edge of Fate:
    • Instead of one global daily lost sector, each major destination (e.g. Moon, Europa, Vex Incursion) now features its own Expert and Master rotation that resets daily.
    • Expert and Master LS are now treated as legacy content, converted to fixed‑Power content (Expert = −20; Master = −30).
  • Effective in The Final Shape, Expert and Master Lost Sectors no longer reward exclusive Exotic Armour.
  • Instead, Expert and Master Lost Sectors now have a chance to drop exotic engrams.
  • Players can obtain new exotic armour by visiting Master Rahool and unlocking a new tier of armour focusing options.

Conquests

Frequently Asked Questions
What are Nightfalls? Are they still relevant?
  • Nightfall Strikes are strike variants that can feature a number of modifiers, Champions, and additional rewards depending on the level of difficulty you wish to play.
  • Nightfall Strikes have a chance to drop Exclusive Weapons.
    • Strike-Specific weapons can also drop in Nightfall strikes!
  • As of Edge of Fate, Nightfalls are now considered to be legacy.
    • Nightfalls now rotate daily, and exclusive Nightfall weapons are on a knockout list.
    • You can earn Nightfall weapons that you haven’t obtained yet until you have unlocked them all, then you’ll receive random rewards going forward.
    • Nightfalls are NOT featured in The Portal, and have been replaced with Fireteam Ops.
    • Xûr, who appears in the Tower every weekend starting at Friday resets until the next weekly reset on Tuesday may feature regular and/or adept Nightfall weapons.
What happened to Grandmaster Nightfalls?
  • As of the Edge of Fate launch (July 15, 2025), GM Nightfalls were fully removed.
  • Bungie re-shuffled their high-difficulty PvE grind into the new Conquest activities in the Portal → Seasonal Hub. You’ll still experience GM-level difficulty…just via Conquests now.
  • As of Destiny 2: Renegades, a new Grandmaster Vanguard Alert will be available, providing even more of a Grandmaster of old experience!
    • This can be accessed by visiting the Portal > Seasonal Hub > Vanguard Alerts tab!
Can you still play Grandmaster-level activities?
  • Yes! Every season the Seasonal Hub includes various Conquests difficulties, including Grandmaster.
    • You can only complete each one once per season, but they’re selectable from mid-season onward.
  • Once you reach ~400 Power Level, Grandmaster will be the main difficulty across the Portal, and then Ultimate once you reach close to ~500 Power Level.
  • As of Destiny 2: Renegades, a new Grandmaster Vanguard Alert will be available, providing even more of a Grandmaster of old experience!
    • This can be accessed by visiting the Portal > Seasonal Hub > Vanguard Alerts tab!
What are the Conquest rewards like?
  • Each Conquest offers a one-time Tier‑based Prime-level reward (Tier 3 for Expert, Tier 4 for Master, Tier 5 for Grandmaster).
  • Higher difficulty = more powerful tiered loot.
How has the Conqueror Seal changed?
  • The Seal was stripped of all Nightfall-related Triumphs. It now tracks Conquest completions.
  • See our Conqueror Seal subsection below for more details.
What happened to Nightfall Adept Ciphers? Should I delete them?
  • From Season 20 to Season 26, when completing Grandmaster Nightfalls, in addition to previously existing rewards, players would acquire Adept Nightfall Ciphers.
  • As of Edge of Fate (Season 27), Adept Nightfall Ciphers are no longer being used.
  • However, Bungie has said they do have plans to re-release them in a new way in a future expansion, so hold off from deleting them!
  • Conquests are score‑based PvE challenges accessed via the Seasonal Hub in the Portal for each season.
    • They have replaced the legacy Grandmaster Nightfalls.
    • GM-level difficulty persists, but it is now exclusively encountered via GM Conquests, not Nightfalls.
  • A minimum of Six seasonal Conquests are available: 2×Expert, 2×Master, and 2×Grandmaster difficulties, and later 2xUltimate difficulties..
    • Each conquest can be played once.
  • Conquests blend activities like Nightfall Strikes, Seasonal Empire Hunts, Exotic Missions, Delve Nightfalls, and others. The mix changes each season.
  • Completing them awards valuable high-level gear, power-level loot drops, and progress towards seasonal objectives.
  • To access Conquests, visit the Portal > Seasonal Hub > Conquests Tab.

REWARDS:

  • Each Conquest offers one guaranteed Prime-level reward engram, ranked to difficulty tier, Tier 5 for GM.
  • Additional Conquest rewards feed into Seasonal Bonus Power, which phases out at season end.
  • There are a minimum of 6 Conquests available per expansion with each activity ranging from Advanced to Ultimate.
  • The primary distinguishing feature of Conquests is that they offer significant, high-tier loot as a one-time reward per character per season.
    • You can replay them, but the loot will be standard per future completions.

Requirements

  • There are specific requirements in order to play these activities:
    • There is a power level requirement per activity, which increases per activity.
      • Fireteam Power is disabled for Conquests. All fireteam members MUST be at or above the required power level.
    • You must equip new gear (armour and weapons) in order to play Conquests. As of Renegades, all Exotic weapons and armour count as New Gear.
  • Guardians are able to unlock Seals by completing specific triumphs outlined within the Seal.
  • When a Seal has been claimed and applied, a purple title will be displayed under your name and will be visible in your character menu. Bragging rights for completing that objective, one could say!
  • The Conqueror Seal, once dedicated toward Grandmaster Nightfall completions, has been redesigned to reward Conquest completions.
    • Tracking now includes Expert‑, Master‑, and GM-level Conquest Triumphs for title progression.
    • Gilding remains tied to four GM-level completions, but can now be earned across seasons rather than tied to specific strikes.
    • Seal progress resets every season. Once the current season’s Conquests change, you’ll need to complete the new ones in future seasons to continue progressing/gilding.

Frequently Asked Questions

    • One Overcharged weapon (an Overcharged weapon will deal +25% more damage)
    • Two Surges (Using a Surging Element will grant +25% more damage; if you have the matching subclass equipped, your Kinetic weapons also do +25% more damage)
    • No Threat Modifier (Threats increase enemy output damage by +25%, which you don’t have to worry about in these activities!)
  • In addition, to ensure it’s a fair fight:
    • Combatants in these activities will not have increased health or stagger resistance.
    • Enemy Health Pools have been fined-tuned so that if ignore elemental buildcrafting, you’ll experience day-one raid-like combat difficulty.
What are Seals and how do I earn them?
  • Guardians are able to unlock Seals by completing specific objectives outlined in that seal
  • When a Seal has been claimed and applied, a purple title will be displayed under your name and will be visible in your character menu.
