What is Trials of Osiris?

Trials of Osiris is the highest tier of PvP content that is available every weekend.
Two fireteams of 3 face each other in an elimination-style match with the objective win seven games to unlock access to the Simulated Lighthouse.
Participating in this event requires a passage that can be purchased from Saint-XIV in the Tower Hangar.

Trials of Osiris: Competitive PvP Event

Quick Lore − Osiris

Osiris is a legendary Warlock and former Vanguard Commander who was exiled from The Last City due to his obsession with the Vex. During his exile, Osiris continued his research on the Vex and discovered the Infinite Forest on Mercury, which he proceeded to explore to thwart the Vex’s plans for the Solar System.

After being aided by The Guardian and Ikora Rey in stopping Panoptes, Infinite Mind, Osiris reestablished connections with the Last City and continued exploring the Infinite Forest while seeking the means to save Saint-14 from his death within the Vex machine. After succeeding in saving his partner with the use of the Sundial, Osiris and his Ghost, Sagira, departed Mercury to gather allies and information about a dark future he saw approaching the solar system.

Most recently, Sagira was killed in action during a conflict on the Moon. It was later revealed that the Osiris that had been assisting the Vanguard during the Wrathborn, Cabal Conflict and the rise in Xivu Arath forces had been none other than Savathûn herself. The Guardians eventually made a trade for Osiris by helping rid Savathûn of her Worm.

Updates to Trials of Osiris in Ash & Iron

Weekly featured weapons for Trials are returning, bringing PvP gear to parity with the PvE experience and provide opportunities for players to focus their efforts on acquiring specific pinnacle PvP gear.
The Trials weekly featured weapon can be acquired with each visit to the Lighthouse and will have a chance to drop in addition to all pre-existing rewards when completing a match, win or lose.
- The drop chance varies depending on Grade, with C+ scaling to 20% and A+ scaling to 60%.

Getting Started: Schedule, Prerequisites & Intro Quest

When live, Trials of Osiris is available from Friday at Daily Reset through Tuesday until Weekly Reset occurs.
There are, however, times when Trials of Osiris will not be active:
- 1st Week of a Season/Expansion Launch
- Raid World First Event
- Iron Banner
With this event being a highly competitive PvP Event, there are certain pre-requisites required in order to access this event:
- Trials of Osiris requires the latest annual expansion.
- Your Guardian must complete an introduction quest.
As of Edge of Fate, power is disabled when playing Trials of Osiris.

Trials of Osiris Introductory Quest

Starting in Season 21, new players will be provided with a Trials introductory quest:

Step 1:
- Complete your Competitive placement series. (7 matches)
- Get 50 kills in Competitive.
- Raise your power level.
Step 2:
- Pick up a Trials Passage.
- Play a game of Trials.
- Win 1 round of trials.
- Get 1 elimination in Trials.

To gain access to the Trials of Osiris, you must first purchase a Trials Passage by visiting Saint-XIV in the Tower Hanger.
Trials Passages cost 10,000 Glimmer.

Objective & Map Rotation

Trials of Osiris is a 3v3 Elimination activity called Dominion.
- Players face off in 5 rounds per match, with each round lasting up to 90 seconds or until the opposing team is wiped out, or the plate is captured.
- The team to win 5 rounds wins the match.
- Win seven games to visit the Simulated Lighthouse, an exclusive social space set on a Simulated Mercury that has rewards waiting for Guardians worthy enough to get there.
Every weekend, one dedicated Crucible arena will be the featured destination that you will fight in.

Trials Passages and Player Journey

As of February 4, 2025, there are several different experiences that Trials of Osiris provides for players offering different gameplay experiences and rewards.

The Lighthouse Passage

The Lighthouse Passage grants access to the fabled simulation on Mercury.
Utilizes Open Skill Matchmaking
All you need to do is win seven games on a Lighthouse Passage and you will earn entrance to the Lighthouse, regardless of how many losses are on the card.
The Lighthouse Chest rewards are broken up into two types:
- Repeatable rewards that you can earn every time you complete a Lighthouse Passage and open the chest.
- Weekly win streak rewards (from one to seven wins in a row), which can be earned once per week and must be true win streaks; there are no mercies here.
  - Note: Earning a higher tier weekly win streak reward will grant all lower tier weekly win streak rewards that have not yet been claimed.

Repeatable Lighthouse Chest Rewards

Earned on every Lighthouse visit until a Flawless Passage is earned.

Ascendant Shard Chance – 45%
Adept Trials Weapon Chances – You’ll have two chances to earn Adept Trials weapons with each Lighthouse chest. The chances for a drop are dependent on your highest weekly win streak and the number of wins completed as a full fireteam. These chances are not additive, they are separate, meaning if you win seven games as a trio AND get a three-win streak, you will get two Adepts from the Lighthouse chest. If you win one game as a trio and get a one-win streak, you will have one 15% chance and one 30% chance for an Adept (so you could still get two Adepts).
- Weekly win streak – This chance is based on the longest win streak you have earned this week, not the longest win streak on your current Passage.
  - One-win – 30%
  - Two-win – 60%
  - Three-win or more – 100%
- Wins as Trio – This chance is based on how many of your wins on the way to the Lighthouse were done as a full fireteam. If all seven wins were done as a full fireteam, you are guaranteed at least one Adept regardless of your longest win streak.

Rewards packages for each win streak milestone can be claimed once per week and are in addition to the repeatable Lighthouse chest rewards.

Note: Earning a higher tier weekly win streak reward will also grant all lower tier weekly win streak rewards that have not yet been claimed.

The Completed Lighthouse Passage

After you have earned access to the Lighthouse, your Passage will change to a Completed Lighthouse Passage.
- Utilizes Weekly Performance-Based Matchmaking if everyone in your fireteam is on a Completed Lighthouse, Flawless, or Trials Passage.
- Utilizes Open Skill if anyone in your fireteam is on a Lighthouse Passage
Players who continue to play on a Completed Lighthouse Passage will get extra rewards on wins, based on their highest weekly win-streak.
- If you still have not earned all the weekly win streak rewards, you can reset your Lighthouse Passage and try again.
Additional Rewards for Longer Win Streaks
As mentioned, players who have gone to the Lighthouse and continue to play on a Completed Lighthouse Passage will get additional rewards for their highest weekly win-streak.
- Higher win streaks can increase your drop chances compared to lower ones, or allow chances to gain additional, exclusive rewards.

The Flawless Passage

Players who have earned all seven weekly win streak rewards will be awarded a Flawless Passage, and all the repeatable Lighthouse chest rewards will be folded into their post-win drop chances, alongside higher chances to earn cosmetics and a Trials emblem (if not already earned).
- Utilizes Weekly Performance-Based Matchmaking if everyone in your fireteam is on a Completed Lighthouse, Flawless, or Trials Passage. Subject to change.
- Utilizes Open Skill if anyone in your fireteam is on a Lighthouse Passage.
This will also allow players to progress the “Flawless Win Streak” stat tracker, which tracks the longest win streak earned while playing on a Flawless Passage.

The Trials of Osiris Passage

A more casual Trials of Osiris experience similarly designed to the Iron Banner.
Utilizes Weekly Performance Based Matchmaking if everyone in your fireteam is on a Completed Lighthouse, Flawless, or Trials Passage.
This passage allows players to take advantage of the improvements to the base reward structure of Trials such as increased reputation, rewards for wins and losses, Challenges, earning Ghost shells, etc. with a matchmaking system that is fairer, lower stakes, and none of the stress of worrying about a loss negating progress.
The Trials of Osiris Passage provides a healthy reputation bonus of 75 – 150 per win, depending on your current rank with Saint-14.
Playing on this passage will give you access to all the following rewards:
- Wins Grant:
  - Reputation
    - Base Reputation + the Trials Passage Rep Bonus
  - Chance for an engram
  - Chance for a base Trials weapon
  - Small amount of progress points towards Trials Ghost Shells from the knockout list
- Losses Grant:
  - Reputation (10x more than what is currently given for losses)
  - Chance for a base Trials weapon
- Additive Extras
  - Playing in a full fireteam grants (win or loss)
    - Bonus rep
    - Chance for a base trials weapon
    - Chance for an engram
  - Playing with a clanmate grants (Win or Loss)

Pinnacle Challenges

The Pinnacle Challenges remain unchanged in terms of how they are completed, but they now grant a piece of Trials armor in addition to the Pinnacle gear.

Trials Reputation System

Regardless if you win or lose, you will earn Trials reputation, with additional bonuses for wins, fireteam wins, and clan participation.

There is a base rewards structure providing rewards regardless if you win or lose, plus additional static bonuses if you’re in a full fireteam!

- Trio Completion (Win or Loss)
  - Base Trials weapon – 50%

Cosmetic Point System

Cosmetics are earned on a point system.
Various actions give you points such as completing challenges, winning games, or opening the Lighthouse chest.
- Your chance of getting a cosmetic from those actions increases exponentially as your total points increases.
- If you hit the upper limit of points in one of the pools (1000 points), you are guaranteed a cosmetic from that pool.
- Earning any cosmetic from the pool resets your points.
Cosmetics are divided up into vehicles (ships and Sparrows), which are exclusive to players who can earn high win streaks, and Ghost Shells which all players can earn, but it is faster if you go to the Lighthouse and get higher win streaks.
All the existing Trials of Osiris vehicles will be in one pool, and all Trials of Osiris Ghost Shells will be in the second.
These are knockout lists, meaning you cannot get duplicates from either pool, so if you play enough, you will eventually earn them all.
Newer Trials emblems, such as Lighthouse-Keeper, will also be earned this way, exclusively for players who can get the upper win streaks.

Adept/Higher Tier Weapons

In Trials of Osiris, as of Edge of Fate, you can earn Tiered weapons. Win Streaks and Flawless Chest can award higher tiered gear, which will have enhanced perks and enhanced mods.
For legacy Trials weapons (before Edge of Fate), there are Adept Trials Weapon variants, unique weapons that can utilize Adept Mods, a series of mods that can further enhance the capabilities of your weapon.
In addition, masterworking and enhancing adept/tiered weapons provide an additional boost stats!

Loot Pool

Fleet Footed

Dealing damage grants you an extended window of increased movement speed and airborne effectiveness. Landing a final blow increases these effects.
Enhanced: Improves perk duration

Found on any Trials of Osiris weapon obtained after Edge of Fate.

Alacrity

Gain increased reload, stability, aim assist, and range when you are the last living member of your fireteam or running solo.

Found on any new Trials of Osiris weapon obtained after Season 16 until before Edge of Fate. Trials weapons will also have the Crucible Origin trait, “One Quiet Moment.”

Active Loot are new, reprisal or legacy weapons that can still be obtained in the game.
As of Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, Xûr will be selling legacy Trials Weapons with a small chance of selling adept weapons.
- The cost of legacy trials weapons will be 17 Strange Coins and adepts will cost 41 strange coins.
- You can find Xûr in the Tower Bazaar every Friday (1pm EST) until Weekly Reset on Tuesday (1pm EST).
